In August 2018, Suzanne and her bird carver husband Wes Ripple held their first joint Open Studio. They called the event Gallery in the Garden because their pondside home has lush gardens leading down to the water’s edge. Wes is a long time flower gardener, and the couple plants over 500 annuals yearly along with maintaining a large perennial garden.
Gallery in the Garden 2018 was a great success, despite road work, an unexpected detour, and torrential rain Saturday morning. (Thank you again to everyone who came!) Wes and Suzanne decided to make the show an annual event, and the invited guest artists who joined them in 2019 were very well received.
In 2025 artists Judy Repp, Susan Rosten, and author Mark Okrant will join returning favorites R.P. Hale, Joy Raskin, Diane Louise Paul, Eric Kalwarczyk, Genevieve Groesbeck, Amy Schwartz, and Nancy O'Connor.
This talented group of artists will amaze you with their imagination and expertise!

On Saturday, July 26 from 10 – 5, we are excited to announce that Steve Hancock of Appletree Nursery in Winnisquam will be at Gallery in the Garden 2025 to talk about plants and answer any questions. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from a very experienced grower. This event is free.
Steve Hancock has been a self-described Plant Nerd since childhood. Logically, this led him to a BS in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Vermont and since graduating he has been in the “Green Industry” for nearly his entire career.
Steve’s experiences include many aspects of growing, including retail/wholesale nursery sales, retail greenhouse/perennial manager, landscape design/installation & maintenance, self-owned wholesale perennial & ground cover grower, and winter greenhouse vegetable grower.
He enjoys spending his free time in his own gardens, visiting botanical & historic gardens as well as other garden centers and growing operations. Steve eagerly awaits your questions about gardening!
